Banan Temple

Banan Temple is a natural and cultural resort on the top of Banan Mountain. It is 80 meter height about 20.20 km South of Battambang Provincial Hall. 5 towers of temples were designed as Angkor Wat style, but they were isolate and made of laterite and sandstone. The temple was built between the mid 11th and the late 12th century. The building process was started under king Udayadityavarman II (1050-1066AD) and ultimately finished by King Jaya Varman VII (1181-1219AD). At the foot of the mountain, there is a moat and two natural wells, Bet Meas and Chhoung around the mountain called Chhoung Archery. Mr. HENRY MOUHOT, French researcher who researched Angkor Wat reported in 141 that, “when we drink the water in the cave, we can know the past, present, and future events.”
